How to achieve better outcomes with Automation, Data & Security

If you are looking for ways to improve the productivity, agility and customer satisfaction of your organisation, you might want to consider how automation, data and security can work together to achieve these goals. In this blog post, I will discuss how a unified and flexible governance model can be used to create a more efficient and effective organisation.
CHALLENGES OF MANAGING AUTOMATION, DATA, AND SECURITY
Many organisations today face a common dilemma: how to balance the need for speed and flexibility with the need for control and compliance. On one hand, they want to empower their teams to use the latest technologies and tools to automate and improve their processes, to access and process data and deliver better outcomes for their customers. On the other hand, they want to ensure that their systems are secure, reliable and aligned with organisational standards and policies.
This can create a lot of friction and frustration, especially when the central technology, data and security functions are seen as bottlenecks or gatekeepers that slow down or limit the innovation and experimentation of the business units. Often, there is a lack of communication, collaboration and trust between the different groups, which can lead to duplication, inconsistency and inefficiency.
OVERCOMING THE CHALLENGES
The answer is not to abandon these central functions altogether. Rather, it is to create a more federated and distributed model. The central functions provide the requisite guidance, support and governance, while the business units have the autonomy and accountability to drive their own improvements and initiatives.
To achieve this balance, a new way of working and mindset must be adopted, based on the following principles:
• AI & Low-Code – Use AI and low-code platforms to enable faster and easier automation and data integration. These platforms allow you to create and deploy applications and workflows without extensive technical skills. They also allow you to connect and access data from various sources, and use AI to generate insights and recommendations.
• Centre of Excellence (COE) - Establish a COE to provide the expertise, leading practices and standards across automation (AI, low-code, etc.), data and security. The COE is not a centralised execution team, but rather a cross-functional, agile team which supports and enables the business units to use the platforms efficiently and effectively. The COE can provide training, coaching, quality assurance, and troubleshooting, as well as manage the infrastructure, environment and access rights for the platforms.
• Embed Governance – Governance is essential to ensure the integrity, reliability and compliance of your systems and data. It should not be seen as an obstacle or constraint, but rather as an enabler and facilitator. To achieve this, you need to involve the automation, data and security and governance functions from the start and make them part of the process.
ACHIEVING THE OUTCOMES
By following this approach, you can create a more collaborative and enabling environment, where automation, data and security work together to help achieve better outcomes for the organisation
Some of the benefits you can expect are:
• Increased Productivity - Automate and improve your processes, reduce errors and waste, and save time and resources.
• Improved Agility and Resilience - Adapt and respond to changing market conditions, customer demands and emerging threats.
• Enhanced Customer Satisfaction - Deliver faster and more personalised services, respond to changing needs and expectations and create more customer loyalty.
